The Harmony Hypnobirthing Mum and baby yoga class is a great way to start moving again after the birth of your baby. The postnatal yoga course in Dartford is a class where you can bring your baby! Enjoy some gentle stretches and flows that are suitable for the postpartum body, whilst some sensory activities and nursery rhymes are mixed in to keep your baby happy and settled as well as aiding their physical development. Each week we will focus on breath work, core strength, pelvic floor work and increasing your range of movement to ease stiffness.

Mum and baby yoga is suitable from 6 weeks post partum if you have had a straight forward vaginal birth. If you have had an instrumental birth or caesarean birth please wait until 12 weeks post partum. You must be given the all clear from your gp that it is safe for you to now take part in physical exercise.

After mum and baby yoga I run baby club, from 11-11.45am. This is a free drop in session (no need to book) and is a chance to chat to other mums over a cuppa and biscuit or cake. Suggested donation is £2 cash on the day to go towards the venue cost.

If you have never done yoga before, do not worry! These postnatal yoga classes are suitable for all levels of experience and fitness. Each pose is progressive, meaning that a pose suitable for beginners is offered as well as adaptations for those who are more experienced. Where you take the pose, is up to you.

You can join mum and baby yoga from 6 weeks post partum, provided you are feeling well. If you have had an instrumental birth, caesarean birth or a third or fourth degree tear please wait until you are 12 weeks post partum.

The only equipment that you will need is a blanket and something to practice on, preferably a yoga or exercise mat. If you do not have a yoga mat you can use a beach towel. There are a limited amount of yoga mats available to borrow but please message in advance to check availability.

Yoga is practiced bare foot so you do not need an special shoes, and wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. You might want a drink handy during the class, a cushion to sit on and a blanket for the relaxation at the end of the class but these are all suggestions and personal preference.

Yes there is free parking at Temple Hill square or across the road at Mallard Close, Dartford.

These postnatal yoga classes are taught by Colleen Stewart, a qualified Hypnobirthing and pregnancy / postnatal yoga teacher. Colleen qualified as a hypnobirthing antenatal teacher in 2016, and as a pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher in 2020. In 2021 Colleen completed her advanced postnatal yoga teacher training.

Classes are refundable or transferable with 24 hours notice. If there is less than 24 hours notice a refund or transfer can not be given.

It is perfectly normal for babies to cry, need changing or need a feed quite regularly! This is to be expected during class too, so please go with what your baby needs. This is a baby led class so if you need to take some time out don’t worry about it.

The community centre has been picked as the venue due to its ease of accessibility. There are no steps to enter the venue or hall, and there is space to park your buggy if needed. There are also on site toilets.
